Non-resident Ambassadors of Serbia, Uruguay and Cyprus in Bangladesh have presented their credentials to President Md Abdul Hamid.
All of them are based in New Delhi. Vladimir Maric is the Ambassador of Serbia, while Carlos Orlando Bonet is the Ambassador of Uruguay, and Demetrios Theophylactou represents Cyprus.
The Cyprus Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at the Foreign Ministry later on Wednesday.
Earlier, President’s Press Secretary Zainal Abedin told Bangabhaban-accredited journalists including bdnews24.com that Hamid hoped Bangladesh’s bilateral relations with these countries would be strengthened during their terms.
The president particularly stressed trade and investments between the countries. He also suggested that they take manpower from Bangladesh. The new envoys extolled Bangladesh’s peacekeeping role around the world and hoped it would continue to do so, the press secretary said.
